Mac Jones is QB1 according to the former NFL coach

The 2021 NFL draft class is full of quarterback talent, ranging from different systems, playstyles and skills.

For some time now, it has been unanimously agreed that former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be No. 1, belonging to Jacksonville this year.

Other names like BYU’s Zach Wilson, NDSU’s Trey Lance, Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Alabama’s Mac Jones are expected to be called up in the first round, following Lawrence.

Ranking quarterbacks after Lawrence is an often discussed topic. Some argue that Fields will be the second quarterback to be taken off the board, while others believe Wilson is the real ‘QB2’.

Former NFL coach for the Chargers and Falcons, June Jones, has a unique outlook. He doesn’t want to discuss who is next best in draft class.

He believes the best quarterback available in the 2021 NFL draft is the former Crimson Tide Heisman finalist, Mac Jones.

“Mac’s deep ball accuracy is probably the best I’ve rated in the years I’ve coached quarterbacks,” said June Jones. “He’s nearly 55 percent over 20 meters, which is incredible.”

Jones also received high praise for his ability to read his options.

“(Mac Jones) is a receiver observer,” said June Jones. “I could tell I was watching him on television if they had the right camera angle. And I really think that’s huge for him. It’s how he naturally throws the deep ball. “

Jones is currently projected as a mid-to-late-round pick in the first round.

Roll Tide Wire will release updates on the status of the Mac Jones rankings ahead of the 2021 NFL draw.
