Lucie Arnaz has defended the cast of Nicole Kidman as her mother Lucille Ball in an upcoming Aaron Sorkin movie.
The rumors about Nicole sparked a whirlwind of online chatter about who might be better suited for the role, with Debra Messing joining herself for the role on Twitter.
However, Lucie, 69, posted a Facebook video urging fans to “ stop arguing about who should be playing it – she doesn’t look like her, her nose isn’t the same, she’s not that funny. ”

Reveal her side: Lucie Arnaz has defended the casting of Nicole Kidman as her mom Lucille Ball in an upcoming Aaron Sorkin movie

As They Were: Lucie is depicted as a child between her mother and her brother Desi Arnaz Jr. in 1962, two years after her parents divorced
Lucie noted that the audience was “ enthusiastically commenting on the casting choice that had not been exactly announced but leaked through the press recently. And you know, it’s a done deal, but the contracts weren’t actually signed, that’s why I didn’t say anything about it publicly. ‘
She laughed and added, “But I thought I should at least try to calm the waters here. There seems to be a lot of debate about Nicole Kidman. It should be Debra Messing! “It should be Carole Cook!” I do not know. ‘
Debra incessantly threw herself for the role on Twitter last week amid reports that Nicole was in talks to lead the cast of the picture.
She retweeted several of her fans who said she would be a better choice, citing her tribute to I Love Lucy in Will And Grace’s final season.

But: Lucie, 69, posted a Facebook video urging fans ‘to stop arguing about who should be playing it – she doesn’t look like her, her nose isn’t the same, she’s not that funny’
During that tribute, Debra completely dressed up as Lucille’s sitcom character Lucy Ricardo to recreate some of her pieces, including her advertisement for Vitameatavegamin and her swinging efforts to work on an assembly line at a chocolate factory.
However, Lucie noted, ‘Here’s the deal – what you need to understand. We are not doing a remake of I Love Lucy. No one has to emulate Lucy Ricardo, neither the Vitameatavegamin routine or the chocolate factory routine or any of the silly things. ‘
She said, “It’s the story of Lucille Ball, my real mother, not Lucy Ricardo, and her husband Desi Arnaz, my dad, not Ricky Ricardo. There will be humor in the movie, but it’s a story of both of them, and how they met, and what went well in finding the show, what went wrong – their relationship, their love affair. ‘
Lucie added, “Now, of course, it has I Love Lucy in it. In fact, Aaron Sorkin has put it on the scene of a movie recording, a week of rehearsal – rehearsing and filming the show – but all those other things are happening during that time. Very little of the show is actually I Love Lucy-ish stuff. ‘

Uncanny: On Will And Grace Debra completely dressed up as Lucille’s sitcom character Lucy Ricardo to recreate some of her bits, including her ad for Vitameatavegamin

To tell the truth, Lucie clarified that in the new movie ‘No one has to pretend to be Lucy Ricardo, and neither the Vitameatavegamin routine or the chocolate factory routine or any of the silly things’
She continued, “I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with that, though. Aaron has done a great job bringing these characters to life, and it’s just a little soup. It’s a little slice of life on their journey. ‘
The showbiz legacy noted, “ It’s not the whole story. It’s not a cradle to grave biopic. It’s a two-hour feature film about these two people and some of the remarkable things they’ve experienced. ‘
She concluded her message by encouraging fans, ‘Trust us. It will be a fun movie. And PS, the vote is over. I love you all.’
Aaron Sorkin is writing and directing the upcoming biopic Being The Ricardos for Amazon following his streaming success with The Trial Of The Chicago 7 for Netflix.

Baby mine: Lucy and Desi were photographed in 1952, the year after their iconic sitcom began, helping little Lucie celebrate her first birthday
While Nicole is reportedly the pick of Lucy, Javier Bardem is in talks about the role of her husband and co-star Desi Arnaz, Deadline reported last week.
Desi, who played Lucy’s bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo on their show, had a tumultuous marriage to her in real life.
She first filed for divorce in 1944, reportedly due to his flirting and drinking, but they got back together before breaking up definitively in 1960.
In the meantime, they produced two kids and the sitcom that etched them into a TV legend, which ran from 1951 to 1957.

They also starred in films together during their marriage, including Forever, Darling and Vincente Minnelli’s comedy The Long, Long Trailer.
Despite their divorce, calling their marriage “ a nightmare, ” Lucy and Desi remained publicly amicable for the rest of his life.
Lucy married Borscht Belt comedian Gary Morton in 1961 and stayed with him until her death in 1989, while Desi married Edith Hirsch in 1963.

Remember when: Aaron Sorkin’s new biopic took about a week to make an episode of I Love Lucy; Lucille and Desi are portrayed on the iconic sitcom that ran from 1951 to 1957
Edith and Desi both died of cancer one year apart – she died in 1985 and her husband, who loved cigars from his native Cuba, succumbed to lung cancer in 1986.
Aaron Sorkin’s new biopic is about a week spent making an episode of I Love Lucy that shakes up Lucy and Desi’s marriage.
The turbulent week, which reportedly runs from the table being read to the recording in front of a studio audience, would also include a professional landmine for the couple.
