Lorenzo Méndez responds to the divorce lawsuit filed by Chiquis Rivera.
Despite strong rumors of a possible reconciliation, Chiquis Rivera and Lorenzo Méndez are on the verge of formalizing their divorce after announcing a few months ago that they had decided to end their marriage, which lasted just over a year.
Méndez, for his part, has already commented on the divorce case brought by Chiquis Rivera in mid-October in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, California, which was exclusively announced by the entertainment show “Ventaneando”.
According to the legal document, Lorenzo Méndez claims that he agrees with the dissolution of Chiquis Rivera’s marriage in accordance with the laws of the state of California. In it, the interpreter writes that the physical separation with his wife took place on September 16, 2020.
In part of his response to the divorce filing, Méndez argues that the divorce is due to “irreconcilable differences” and affirmed that they did so for separate assets at the time of the marriage to Rivera. However, the singer did not want to disclose the assets that are in his or joint custody with Chiquis.
On November 30, 2020, the legal document containing Lorenzo Méndez’s response to the divorce claim was presented to the Los Angeles Superior Court. In it, the star demands the payment of his lawyers by Chiquis Rivera.
In the complaint filed by Chiquis Rivera in September, the singer requested Méndez to bear the costs of his attorneys, stressing that both parties refrain from receiving any sort of pension because they were married on a prenuptial agreement. .
The divorce case of Chiquis Rivera and Lorenzo Méndez also determined that both parties had a restraining order for the duration of the divorce process and that this applies throughout the state of California.
At that point, the divorce petition had to be answered by Méndez within 30 days and if not, the court could issue orders that would significantly affect him, including: payment of legal fees and costs. However, it’s not known at this point if this may have been applied to the singer due to his delayed response to the complaint.
In early December 2020, Chiquis Rivera and Lorenzo Méndez were captured while spending time together in El Paso, Texas. After the reunion, many fans and the media speculated about a possible reconciliation, but this was not confirmed by any of the parties involved.
