Long Island man steals tractor, crashes into Target: Police

A Long Island man’s Christmas morning shopping was not exactly a success.

Police said a 33-year-old Deer Park man got behind the wheel of a 2010 Bobcat tractor that was parked at a Bay Shore mall and drove through the front doors of a local Target store.

Justin Shuffle then reportedly drove back out, parked the tractor, and walked back into the store – where police said he had done a mini shoplifting.

When the police showed up shortly before 2am, they packed Shuffle in the electronics department with a $ 78 jacket and a handful of Target gift cards, police said.

“It is a very brutal act to use a piece of electric construction equipment to break into a shop door,” said Suffolk County Police Sgt. Jeffrey Walker told The Post Thursday.

“It seems like there wasn’t really a big plan here,” said Walker. “It looked like this was a one-off deal.”

Shuffle was charged with third degree burglary and grand theft of the fourth degree.

According to police, he was charged on Christmas morning in the First District Court in Central Islip.

It was not clear whether he was ordered on bail, but the two charges are not eligible for bail under that state’s reform law, police said.

A call to Shuffle’s house went unanswered.
