London Bridge station reopens after a suspicious item has been investigated

London Bridge station in central London reopened on Wednesday afternoon after being evacuated as police investigated reports of a suspicious object aboard a train, a Reuters eyewitness said.

Police were called to the busy commuter center at 11.33 GMT after reports of a suspicious object aboard a train, a spokeswoman for the UK Transport Police said.

The station was closed as a precaution while specialist agents assessed the item.

Train operators South and Southeast said on Twitter that trains did not stop at the station.

“All lines are expected to reopen shortly after emergency services handled an incident at London Bridge,” Southern said in a statement.
