Loas from Luka Doncic to José Juan Barea |

Young Dallas Mavericks star, Luka Doncic, didn’t hesitate to predict that Puerto Rican José Juan Barea will have a lot to say during his time in Spain’s prestigious ACB league.

The Slovenian has assured that the Puerto Rican setter will leave a good feeling once he makes his debut with the Movistar Estudiantes de Madrid club.

The two baskets have been teammates on the Dallas Mavericks since 2018, and they cultivated a friendship that was even portrayed in several games and training sessions for the team owned by Mark Cuban.

“He is a great player. I think with his experience he will help a lot of people. I also think he will do very well. He will play very well, ”said Doncic in brief statements to the press after a Mavericks game.

Doncic knows very well the league in which the Puerto Rican will now play. The native Slovenian player played with Real Madrid for four years, was selected as the most valuable player of the 2017-2018 season and is even part of the ideal Euroleague team of the 2010-2020 decade.

It is not the first time that the Rookie of the Year for the 2018-2019 season has also spoken miracles about the Puerto Rican player, whom he has already described as a leader for the young players of the team.

Barea, for his part, was without a contract in the NBA after playing 14 consecutive seasons since 2006.

The Puerto Rican – who was crowned champions in 2011 with Dallas as one of the key figures – was announced as a new player for the Movistar Estudiantes team last Saturday, January 23.

The 36-year-old point guard was seen in a message on the networks of the Spanish team on Tuesday.

‘Look who came to Madrid! José Juan Barea arrived in the capital. Welcome to Spain ”, wrote the Movistar Estudiantes account.

Reactions to the publication did not wait and one of the first to leave his comment was Carlos Arroyo, who was also an ex-canastero, who played with Baskonia and FC Barcelona Barsa in the Euroleague.

“I’m going to you!” Said Arroyo with extensive experience in European basketball.

The Estudiantes club remains in position 16 out of a total of 18 teams with a negative record of 5-11.

The five are scheduled to open the second round of the ACB next Saturday, January 30 against the San Sebastián Gipuzkoa BC team.
