Liverpool cannot enter Germany for a duel against Leipzig

Liverpool cannot enter Germany for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Leipzig on February 16 due to measures against the spread of the corona virus. this prohibits people from areas where mutations are very widespread from entering the land.

The German federal police on Thursday rejected a request from Leipzig to grant special permission to Liverpool.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of the Interior explained the Liverpool case does not fall under any of the possible exceptions to the general rule.

The Leipzig should now be tasked with finding a neutral location and bearing the additional costs of party travel.

UEFA wants to be clear until February 8. A second possibility would be for the first leg to be played in England, confident that the situation will have changed for the return game to be played on March 10.

However, the latter should be accepted by Liverpool.

In any case, if no solution is found, UEFA could give up the match for Leipzig 0-3.
