Senator Lindsey Graham (RS.C.) predicted that former President Donald Trump will lead the Republican party “politically” in the coming months and inspire a GOP victory in the midterms of 2022 on Monday.
Graham made the comments during a performance on Fox News’ latest addition Hannity. The senator predicted Trump would lead a GOP takeover of Congress after host Sean Hannity asked him about Republicans who are “ not very fond of ” the former president and instead want “ back to the good old ” time of establishment. “
“I think in the coming months you will see Donald Trump lead the Republican Party on policy and give us the energy we need to take back the House and Senate,” said Graham. “The Democrats are doing their part. If we can get behind President Trump and follow his example, we will win in 2022. If we contradict ourselves, we will lose. And there is no reason to lose.”
The senator said Trump would demonstrate his policy-driven leadership at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in 2021, where the former president will speak on Feb. 28. The speech is expected to be Trump’s first major speech since his tenure as the only president in US history to be impeached twice.
“Trump is going to make a speech on Sunday that will be very policy-oriented,” Graham said. “Every Republican should rally around it. I think it will help us with independents … I have never felt better about President Trump leading the party than now.”

“He will position himself as the alternative to Joe Biden,” he added. “He, I think, will make a speech that will unite the Republicans on policy. He’s been working on the phones. I was with him all weekend. He wants to win in 2022.”
When asked if Trump plans to seek a non-consecutive second term in 2024, Graham did not answer directly, saying, “Stay tuned.” Hannity insisted on the matter, joking that Graham, a regular guest on his show, was jeopardizing his position as a future “correspondent” by not answering definitively. Graham joked that he would answer immediately when he receives his “first check.”
Trump’s CPAC address is scheduled to be given by the Senate just weeks after his second impeachment trial, as he reportedly incites uprising in the U.S. Capitol riots of January 6, ended in acquittal because the upper chamber was not there managed to achieve a majority of 67 votes, with 57-43 votes. instead in favor of conviction.
Graham, one of the seven Republican senators who voted against condemnation, has remained a staunch ally of Trump after his presidency. Prior to the former president’s victory in the 2016 election, Graham was an outspoken opponent of Trump, calling him a “wacky kitchen” destined to “destroy” the GOP.
