Lindor’s contract includes $ 21 million for signing sport-

NEW YORKFrancisco Lindor will receive a $ 21 million bonus for signing his contract with the Mets that will take effect next year.

The Puerto Rican shortstop was acquired from Cleveland in a trade on January 7. A week later, he settled for a year and $ 22.3 million.

The new deal, announced on April 5, is worth $ 341 million over 10 years. It provides for the payment of the signing bonus upon approval of the deal by the Major League Baseball commissioner’s office.

Lindor will earn an annual salary of $ 32 million from 2021.

Of that amount, 5 million is deferred annually without interest.

The shortstop earns $ 50,000 bonuses each time he is selected to the All-Star Game, or when he wins a Gold Glove, Silver Bat, or National League Championship Series MVP award.

He will receive $ 50,000 if he is named Major League Baseball MVP, $ 25,000 if he finishes second on the ballot, and $ 10,000 if he finishes third.

His prize would be $ 100,000 if he is the World Series MVP.

In the contract there is a provision that allows the player to block his trade to certain clubs. If he stays with the Mets before 2025, he can avoid any trade.

In addition, Lindor will be able to occupy a hotel suite during tours. His contract also entitles him to purchase four tickets at selected venues and use one deluxe suite for all regular season home games.

Had he not reached an agreement, Lindor would have been able to declare himself a free agent at the end of the World Series.
