Lin-Manuel Miranda confirmed that he was part of Biden’s inauguration ceremony

Actor / screenwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda and singers Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen are among the prominent celebrities at the virtual celebration that airs Wednesday night after Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.

Biden’s inauguration committee announced Sunday’s attendees to “Celebrating America,” a multi-station broadcast that presents the committee as a combination of stars and ordinary citizens.

Miranda, who wrote and starred in Broadway’s “Hamilton”, will perform a classic recitation. Musicians John Legend, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake will join Springsteen and Bon Jovi, among others. Actresses Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria will perform along with NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is also scheduled to perform.

The segments include tributes to a UPS driver, kindergarten teacher Sandra Lindsey, and the first American to receive the COVID-19 vaccine outside of a clinical trial.

The broadcast replaces the traditional opening dances. Biden still plans to be sworn in on the Capitol balcony, but with a downsized ceremony due to the coronavirus and increased security after the January 6 attack on the compound.
