Limited Run Games’ Scott Pilgrim release was an overwhelming success

“Not so limited, is it?”

Last week saw the highly anticipated re-release of Ubisoft’s dynamic brawl Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, which returned to digital stores ten years after its initial release. Unceremoniously pulled from sale in December 2014, it seems fans aren’t taking any chances when it comes to Sex-Bob-omb’s highly anticipated encore.

According to a tweet from Douglas Bogart from Limited Run Games, the retailer successfully shifted more than 25,000 physical Nintendo Switch copies within the first three hours of the pre-order period Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game the greatest LRG release of all time. This astonishing number does not exclude physical pre-orders for PS4, nor any digital sales made directly from PSN, Microsoft Store or the eShop.

It indicates that the return of the retro-style scrapper would see the big bucks. Not only have fans old and new been clamoring for Pilgrim’s comeback for years, but people were obliged to grab physical copies at twice the speed, to keep licensing issues or red tape from making it go away again. It was an incredibly smart move by Limited Run to put out a physical release, and it looks like the boutique store is going to reap the rewards.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition is available now for PS4, PC, Xbox One, Stadia and Nintendo Switch. Physical editions are available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch through Limited Run Games, as well as a re-press of the title’s vinyl soundtrack and several adorable branded items, including key chains and pins.
