LeVar Burton as guest host of ‘Jeopardy!’ with George Stephanopoulos

“Danger!” ends its 37th season with a bang.

The old game show has announced the final guest hosts to close the final season on Wednesday. LeVar Burton, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, David Faber (who is a former champion of “Celebrity Jeopardy!”) And Joe Buck are among the stars who were drawn to host the wildly popular trivia game.

Burton has previously expressed his great enthusiasm to host the show and take the reins from the late great Alex Trebek.

The 64-year-old presenter of “Reading Rainbow” gushed about his new performance Twitter, writing: “THANK YOU… to all of you for your passionate support! I am over the moon, excited and eager for Jeopardy! Be a guest and I will do my very best to live up to your faith in me. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE! Go ahead and take my word for it this time. “

Earlier this month, Burton tweeted a fan-started campaign to make him a permanent “Jeopardy!” host.

“Leave this here in case the powers are out,” the “Roots” actor tweeted next to a petition. The document has since received more than 250,000 signatures.

Burton recently appeared on USA TODAY’s “The Mothership” podcast and went on to talk about his desire to host the quiz show. “This is something that I really think is a good idea,” he said. “I think it fits well with what the show is, what the show requires and what I feel I am bringing to the table. I feel just as strongly about my correctness in this as I do with Kunta and Geordi. And I have invested so much in getting the job. “

Burton added that he feels he “wants to do justice to Alex’s legacy.” Trebek died of pancreatic cancer in November 2019 at the age of 80. The show paid tribute to the iconic host’s storied career in January.

After Trebek’s death, ABC News journalist George Stephanopoulos was reportedly lobbying for the show, alongside several other candidates, and “actively” putting his name in the ring.

“Danger!” executive producer Mike Richards released a statement on Wednesday about the slew of new celeb hosts. “Our goal was to present a wide variety of guest hosts with different skills and backgrounds on the way to finding a permanent host,” said Richards. “Our passionate fans tell us what they like and we listen. All guest hosts have brought individualism, energy and an authentic love for our show into each of their episodes. We look forward to sharing with our viewers for the rest of the season. “

In addition to the performance of each guest host, a donation is made to a charity of your choice. The amount donated will be compared to the cumulative winnings of the participants participating during the week.

Guest hosts from last season 37 include Anderson Cooper, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Savannah Guthrie, Katie Couric, and Aaron Rodgers.
