The traditional celebration of former President Leonel Fernández’s birthday, with hundreds of people coming to the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (Funglode) to congratulate him from the early morning hours, was held pretty much because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
From a library, Fernández observed through a computer the surprises organized by his team from the Fuerza del Pueblo Party in Funglode and celebrated his 67th birthday.
The broadcast, which had some connectivity issues, lasted over two hours and included Mariachis, the artistic participation of Jhonny Ventura, El Jeffry, Sergio Hernández and Juliana Oneal.
As every year, dozens of people from that party sent their congratulations and demonstrations of admiration via videos. These congratulations were accompanied by Sergio Vargas, Fernando Villalona, Félix D’Oleo, Amarfis, Super Kenny from the New School, among others.
“I think it is a very beautiful act, very original and I enjoyed it very much, thank you very much for your kind words, for your blessings and for the good wishes that we may have many more years of life in your company and for benefit Dominican people, ”said the former president.
Various personalities expressed their congratulations to Fernández via the social network Twitter. Former Vice President Margarita Cedeño wished her heart would always be full of peace and happiness, in the hope that she would surround herself with people of genuine love and friendship.
Another person who congratulated the former president was also Reinaldo Pared, former Senate President and Secretary General of the PLD. He wrote the following: “My birthday wishes to an excellent person and a good friend of mine.”
Leonel Fernández posted on his social networks several images with his children and granddaughter, the dedication of the cake that his mother Yolanda Reyna sent him for his birthday.
“With colleagues, friends and family, especially my children and granddaughter, I thank God and life for this unforgettable day. I have been privileged by the love and reverence of so many people over the years. Let’s stay united on behalf of the Dominican people, ”he wrote.
