Legends of Tomorrow’s Dominic Purcell is ending the CW series

Actor Dominic Purcell reveals on social media that he’s leaving DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and criticizes the studio’s stance.

UPDATE: Purcell has since deleted his Instagram post, as well as a sequel explaining that it was a joke targeting news outlets. He noted that while he is leaving the series as a regular cast member, he will continue to appear periodically in Legends of Tomorrow.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow star Dominic Purcell, who plays Mick Rory, aka Heatwave, has announced that he is leaving the show.

He wrote on Instagram: “The deal is not final. I am not interested. Whatever money they throw at a business level. I am walking away from [Legends of Tomorrow]It was a total pleasure and a humbling experience [DC Comics’s] iconic character [Heatwave] (aka) MICK RORY to life. “

While no details were provided as to the circumstances of his decision, Purcell went on to write, “The studio doesn’t care. The actors work ethic and talent should give them the confidence to question authority … Much love to everyone. I have not lost how happy I am. “

Based on the comic book supervillain of the same name, Heatwave made his Arrowverse debut The flash in 2014, alongside Captain Cold, played by former Prison Break co-star Wentworth Miller, before they both became part of the titular Legends of Tomorrow team.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Olivia Swann, Jes Macallan, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian, Lisseth Chavez and Raffi Barsoumian. Season 6 premieres Sunday, May 2 at 8 p.m. ET / PT on The CW.
