They started Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks with a 15-6 record, including a 4-2 on their current seven-game road trip. They have become particularly adept at disappointing road fans. Through 13 road races, the Lakers have a record of 11-2.
And while the Atlanta Hawks made things interesting during Monday’s game, the Lakers controlled their fight throughout the game. That apparently didn’t sit well with an Atlanta fan on court, who got into a fight with LeBron James and was kicked out of the game by security. Lakers broadcaster Bill Macdonald even jokingly compared the moment to the meme of a member of the Desperate Housewives cast who pointed to an indifferent cat.
As James revealed after the game, the discussion was between him and the woman’s husband, and he didn’t think they should be thrown out of the game.
“At the end of the day, I am happy that the fans are back in the building,” said James told reporters. “I missed that interaction, I need that interaction, we as players need that interaction. I don’t feel like it was justified to be kicked out. There was a back and forth between two grown men. We said. our piece, he said his piece, I said my piece, and then someone else jumped in and said their piece. I didn’t think they should have been thrown out, but they might have had a few drinks, and she probably had it going and the game would no longer be about the game, so the referees did what they had to do. ”
This isn’t the first incident James has had with a spectator on this road trip. In a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers last week, James missed a shot at the end of the third quarter and was unhappy with how a Cleveland manager responded. He responded by scoring 26 points in the fourth quarter.
“I felt like he was just a little too excited to see me miss,” James then told reporters. “He was very excited that I had missed that opportunity. A little more than I would have liked. The Lakers eventually escaped with a win, bringing in 12 road wins a year and sending them home for 10 of their next 15 games. Hopefully it will be a while before LeBron gets started with another road lover with such a long stint in Los Angeles ahead of them.
