Leaker Jon Prosser claims AirTags and new iPad Pro will be announced next month

Apple is scheduled to release a number of new products this year, and the first round of products could only be a few more weeks. YouTuber Jon Prosser, who has a mixed track record when it comes to reporting on Apple’s plans, claims that AirTags and brand new iPad Pro models will be announced next month, presumably through a virtual event.

Prosser, who leads the tech news show “Front Page Tech,” tweeted earlier today that AirTags “is still running for March” and that he “has not heard of further delays this time”. However, this isn’t the first time the online personality has claimed to have information about AirTags. In October, Prosser stated that AirTags were “sure” come to the event in November, but that didn’t materialize and the event was focused entirely on Apple Silicon Macs. The YouTuber too claimed that AirTags would be released alongside iOS and iPadOS 14.3, which also didn’t happen.

Prosser has previously claimed March 2021 as a release date for AirTags, but it’s worth noting that Apple doesn’t typically host events earlier than March, so its claim appears to be an educated guess. Finally, Prosser once said that AirTags would be “likely” to be released at Apple’s September 2020 event, and that didn’t materialize either.

In a follow up tweeted today, Prosser repeated his previous claim those updated iPad Pro models will be announced in March this year. There have been rumors of new iPad Pros launching for some time now, and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects a release in the first half of 2021, in line with Prosser’s timeline in March. Again, it’s worth noting that Prosser did claim earlier new iPads would be on the market at the end of 2020, but that did not happen.

Nonetheless, in the past, the YouTuber has been the source of accurate Apple information, including accurately reporting the exact date and time for the second-generation iPhone SE launch in April and the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro in May, and he reported correctly released an updated iMac in August minutes before it became official.

The most credible information to date about the AirTags launch comes from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who stated last month that AirTags is on track for a 2021 release, although the analyst has stopped providing a more specific timeframe.

Leaker L0vetodream, which has a reliable track record, has cryptically hinted that AirTags can come in small and large sizes. AirTags are rumored to contain replaceable batteries and work directly in the Find My app on iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
