Leaked images of updated iPad Pro and iPad mini show few changes

An alleged image of upcoming iPad mini dummy cases shows the same design as the iPad mini 5, while the one for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro appears to have reduced camera bump.

As expectations grow that a new iPad Pro will be unveiled soon, an old leaker has been showing images of dummy chassis designs. In addition to dummies for both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the images include what’s believed to be the next iPad mini.

Leaker Sonny Dickson says these are dummy units so there’s no display to turn on yet. That makes determining the width of the borders uncertain, but it seems that both the innovations of the iPad Pro and the iPad mini have no obvious redesigns.

One possible exception to this is that the two iPad Pro dummies show all correct ports except for the Smart Connector. The regular Smart Connector is not shown in its usual location in the illustrations, nor is it placed anywhere else on the chassis. The Magic Keyboard needs this connector, so it seems unlikely that it was dropped by design.

Other features, such as a Thunderbolt USB-C port versus a USB 3.1 Type-C port and a faster processor expected for the model, clearly cannot be portrayed on a dummy likely intended for the case manufacturing industry .

Separately, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro dummy appears to have a less pronounced rear camera bump, compared to the 11-inch dummy or currently shipped models.
