Lawsuit between “family” for vote 56 of the Salvadoran Congress

The TSE recognizes that NI has 46 pure deputies, 10 in coalition, 9 of which have been proposed by them and one by GANA, which corresponds to the department of Cabañas.

Representative 56, representing the qualified majority in the Legislative Assembly, has provoked a political dispute between two allied political parties, New Ideas and the Great Alliance for National Unity (GANA).

This, after the presiding magistrate of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) Dora Esmeralda Barahona, representative of the GANA party, wrote on her Twitter account on Friday night that the New Ideas party had 55 delegates and a day later 56.

The truth is, the TSE recognizes that NI has 46 pure deputies, 10 in coalition, 9 of which were proposed by NI and one by the GANA party, which corresponds to the Cabañas department.

GANA credits it for being suggested by them. The reality, however, is that both parties are allies and together form 61 qualified majority votes.

What do the TSE magistrates say?

“In a coalition with GANA they get 55, more GANA than 6, they make a qualified majority there, but NI only has a simple majority and that’s consistent with the hypotheses that were put forward,” said Judge Julio Olivo. He added “one thing is how much the N got alone, how much the GANA got alone, how much the N and GANA got in coalition, and so on in each department.”

What are the GANA delegates saying?

Romeo Auerbach, deputy chosen by La Libertad, wrote on his Twitter account yesterday “here Walter Araujo makes it very clear, 46 are delegates from NI and 5 from GANA; and in the NI + GANA coalition, 9 are affiliated with NI and one is affiliated with GANA, moreover I see no problem with this, the president said NI + GANA = 61 and I for my part will be next to the president ”.

Auerbach wrote “here is the name of the 6 GANA delegates” and mentioned Juan Carlos Mendoza, deputy of Santa Ana; Guillermo Gallegos for San Salvador, Adelmo Rivas for Sonsonate, Amílcar Ayala for Cabañas, Romeo Auerbach for Libertad and Numan Salgado for San Miguel.

On March 5, Juan Carlos Mendoza, deputy chosen by Santa Ana, said via a video circulating on the networks: “I have been informed that the investigation at the Cabañas table has just ended, making us a WINS party deputy, who we maintain practically since the party had a deputation and we maintain that “.

He added that by a difference of 1,115 votes from the third candidate of the New Ideas coalition with GANA, he is leaving candidate Amílcar Ayala in Cabañas as a deputy.

Congressman Mendoza also said that New Ideas’ third candidate was not getting the required marks to secure a seat.

The legislature confirmed that the coalition had 46,000 votes and that the battle was to determine the candidate with the most preference figures.

“Obviously, when one of GANA comes in, one of the new ideas is dropped,” he said.
