Multiple fire departments respond to a major fire on Sunday evening involving at least five buildings in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

North Andover and Woburn Fire have confirmed that they are providing mutual assistance to the Saratoga Street 5 alarm fire.

Numerous other departments in the area are also responding, along with Lawrence police.

The fire was reported shortly after 7 pm. Heavy flames and smoke came from the area.

Police say no injuries have been reported at this time and no one has been reported missing.

Heavy flames and smoke were seen on Sunday from Saratoga Street in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where multiple fire departments respond to a major fire involving at least five buildings.

NBC10 Boston meteorologist Chris Gloninger said the west-northwest winds are at 26 mph gusts, leading to exposure issues.

NBC10 Boston has crews on site. They say heavy damage is visible to at least one house, but thick smoke limits visibility in the area.

The Massachusetts Red Cross responds saying that an unknown number of adults and children are reportedly displaced.

Victims of the fire are being asked to meet with the Red Cross for assistance at the command center on Lawrence Street near Pollo Tipico (190 Lawrence Street) and Farrah Funeral Home (located at 133 Lawrence Street), according to the mayor’s office.

The agency offers comfort, financial assistance and long-term recovery services.


Lawrence residents are asked not to go near Saratoga Street. Streets in the area have been closed, police said.
