Larry King’s widow disputed his will

Larry King’s widow Shawn Southwick challenged the will left handwritten by the legendary journalist, according to which his legacy should be divided equally among his five children. “This is my last will and testament… It should replace all previous writings,” says the document to which Humans had access.

According to American media specializing in entertainment news, the will dates back to October 17, 2019, two months after King filed for divorce from Southwick, his seventh wife, in which he had irreconcilable differences of opinion.

Now, however, Southwick claims she and King were working on a possible “reconciliation” when the journalist fell ill. In this sense, he stated in court documents that after he filed for divorce, “the parties went to counseling, kept talking and reconciliation was still possible.”

Southwick also assured that she was “actively involved” in King’s affairs and that she had “the best knowledge” of his belongings and wishes at the time of his death. For this reason, she asked to be appointed as special administrator of the late journalist’s estate in place of his son, Larry Jr., although that was what King had requested in his will.

Larry King died on January 23 at the age of 87. According to his death certificate, although he remained hospitalized after contracting the coronavirus, his death was due to sepsis due to two underlying conditions: acute hypoxic respiratory failure – that is, lack of oxygen in the blood – and kidney failure. Over the years, King has also suffered from other health problems such as type 2 diabetes, various heart attacks and lung cancer.
