Lance Reddick is a famous actor, with big roles in The wire and John Wick, among other things. He is also the voice of DestinyCommander Zavala, and apparently not above granting requests from fans to voice the memes they send him.
That’s what he did yesterday then Destiny player xMechanizex sent him a meme pulled from the opening scene of Season of the Chosen, which went live earlier this week. In it, Cabal Empress tells Caiatl Reddick’s character Zavala to bend the knee when accepting an alliance against their mutual enemies. Zavala refuses and they part ways, beginning the game’s final round of alien bloodletting.
This made some players joke that Zavala should actually have gone in and reminded the Empress how many times in the past players had collectively kicked the Cabal. Big bad things have become a hard sell in a game that’s all about converting them ad nauseum for cool loot. And so a new one Destiny meme was born and later immortalized thanks to Reddick’s completely serious implementation of it:
