Lady Dimitrescu Designer shocked by social media thirst for Resident Evil Village Villain

Lady Dimitrescu Resident Evil Village 1

Lady Dimitrescu, the towering 9’6 “vampire villain from Resident Evil Village, has cast a shadow across social media since fans realized she was, well, for a long timeIt’s probably the best marketing publisher Capcom could have ever hoped for – but does it have something like, ahem, thirsty reaction? According to art director Tomonori Takano it is all quite surprising.

‘I don’t think of anyone [on the team] could have predicted how wonderfully fans have responded to Lady Dimitrescu, ”he said as part of an interview with IGN. “Personally, I was particularly affected by comments like, ‘I want to be chased by her’.” Maybe Takano is just shocked to learn that the Internet has the exact same fetish.

Lady Dimitrescu has more than just her body though – she’s not quite your typical vampire. Her fashion sense is more Edwardian than downright gothic, and while her yellow eyes lend her otherworldly trappings, she’s glamorous – a recent trailer shows her putting on makeup, for example! This is of course all designed like this.

“We decided to go ahead in the early stages of planning [a] castle and vampire motif, ”Takano continued. “However, we didn’t want to be limited by the way vampires were portrayed in various forms of popular entertainment.” So Lady Dimitrescu is more seductive and stylish – she’s apparently inspired by real people like Elizabeth Báthory, a 16th-century Hungarian serial killer.

Capcom’s art department is among the best in the business, so it’s no real surprise that it has rekindled gamers’ imaginations with another memorable character design. Lady Dimitrescu’s stardom is somewhat unprecedented, however – it will be fascinating to learn more about her when the game comes out later this year.
