Fans would probably prefer to see the San Francisco 49ers stick with Jimmy Garoppolo rather than give up significant design capital for a potentially available quarterback not named Deshaun Watson. CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora commented on the network’s Super Bowl LV pre-game coverage that the 49ers are among the teams “very interested” in taking over Watson from the Houston Texans should he become available.
“Deshaun Watson, he still really wants to get out of Houston,” said La Canfora. ‘The Texans tell teams,’ We’re not trading him in. ‘That could change because of the design. I can tell you that the 49ers, the Panthers (are) among the teams very interested in Deshaun Watson, just like the Jets. “
Competition for Watson can get heated if the Texans want to move him. It is not known how long, if truly interested, the 49ers would be willing to engage in a bidding war. Of course, Watson has some influence over where he might go, thanks to the no-trade clause in his contract. He should approve of any destination if he can force a trade.
Speaking of the New York Jets, La Canfora thinks their quarterback, Sam Darnold, can be traded too, especially if Watson is in the game for them. Would San Francisco be interested?
“Sources tell me 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is very high in Sam Darnold,” added La Canfora. “If that’s a match, follow me here, the 49ers would trade Jimmy Garoppolo, and sources tell me Bill Belichick would love to have a Jimmy G reunion in New England.”

ESPN’s Barnwell suggests sending Deshaun Watson to 49ers with three teams
By David Bonilla

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell began his most recent feature by saying, “I don’t think the Houston Texans should be trading Deshaun Watson.” The star quarterback is just too good a talent to even consider getting rid of. Of course, the thinking process changes when your quarterback gives the strong impression that he doesn’t feel like playing another snap for you. The relationship between Watson and the Texans has deteriorated, with many expecting the three-time Pro Bowl star quarterback to seek a trade. Barnwell added: “If he wanted to leave, I would strongly encourage Cal McNair to do whatever it takes to get Watson to change how he feels. An exchange should only be the absolute last resort.” Barnwell ranked the

One thing is clear from NFL.com’s feature investigating the potential landing spots for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson – no one has any idea how this will turn out. Seven different contributors were asked to predict the outcome of the Texans-Watson saga, and it resulted in six different answers. The New York Jets, chosen by Jeffri Chadiha and Marc Ross, were the only team to be appointed more than once. The other teams named were the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins. Handpicked by Nate Burleson, The Colts are always an interesting option to hear. If you’re the Texans, do you want to be forced to divorce?

Cowherd: 49ers should be Deshaun Watson’s best destination ‘by a mile’

Deshaun Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract, which means he has veto power over any destination the Houston Texans choose for him via an exchange. Watson and the Texans disagree, and the quarterback wants out. He is in a unique situation because if the Texans grant his trade request, he can dictate where he goes. While FS1 host Colin Cowherd recently shared reasons why he felt the 49ers might not be a good fit for Watson, he said this week that San Francisco should be at the top of the quarterback’s list of landing spots – and it’s not even close. “Number 1 would be San Francisco by a mile,” Cowherd said. “Without Deshaun Watson, they are a top five

Vick, in communication with Deshaun Watson, suggests 49ers as a good match

Deshaun Watson wants to leave Houston. The Texans say they have no plans to trade in their star quarterback. The situation between player and team may not be close to resolution. Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick has been in touch with Watson and has a suggestion about a possible landing spot if the Texas passer can force a trade. Watson has a certain influence. The no-trade clause in his contract allows him to approve or reject potential landing sites. But first, he must convince the Texan buyer to give in to his trade demand. ‘I’m going to have a conversation with [Watson] later in the day, “Vick told FS1’s Nick Wright while filling in for Colin Cowherd on The Herd.” We just talked about it a few minutes ago, and we’re going to talk about it, just in
