Rumors circulating today, coming from a week-old press release, suggest that Japanese entertainment conglomerate Konami has shut down its video game division. Konami assures us not.
In a press release of January 15 the Japanese company announced the dissolution of its three production units, along with staff relocations for employees previously responsible for the production units. What happens in that announcement, according to an official statement to Kotaku by Konami, is just a merger of departments.
The statement reads: “The announcement made refers to an internal restructuring, whereby the production divisions are being consolidated. We have not closed our video game division. “
So don’t worry, Konami will continue to do that PES football game and what else it does nowadays. Yu-Gi-Oh and all that.
