Kingdom Hearts 4 Teaser may be discovered in Kingdom Hearts 3

It seems like Kingdom Hearts III could have tucked away an in-game teaser that could tell players where the series is headed in the future. While the newly discovered information could be related to something else, what is being described seems to be consistent with what we know about the future of the Kingdom Hearts franchise as a whole.

Spotted on Reddit by user Blubbpaule, it appears on the back of the box of Verum Rex, a fictional game in Kingdom Hearts III, could give some teasing about where the series is going. For those who have finished it all Kingdom Hearts III, and the corresponding Remember me DLC, Verum Rex ends up playing a rather big role, because Sora is one in which Sora gets stuck. In the events of Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memoryit is discovered that the name of this world in which Sora lies is specifically called Quadratum.

As for how this boxed copy of Verum Rex may tease the future of the series, it seems to provide some details about Quadratum as a whole. The box contains mentions of the “King of Truth” and also appears to encourage players to “win your heart back”. However, whether or not this should refer specifically to Sora is not really clear. There is also talk of something called “Karma”, but it is uncertain what exactly this could be. On this point, Kingdom Hearts III didn’t say anything about Karma, but if this is indeed a teaser as we think it is, we could see more about it in future submissions.

Whatever the truth, it looks like Square Enix is playing 4D chess again when it comes to Kingdom Hearts storytelling. This is a series that has long played with its fans when it comes to world building, and assuming this tease is in fact meant to be teasing, it’s not surprising to see all of this happen again.

The only downside is that at this point it looks like the next mainline Kingdom Hearts game could be quite a long way off. Fortunately, if you haven’t played any items in the series yet, almost the entire saga is coming to PC later this month on March 30th.
