Kim Kardashian Responds To ‘Framing Britney Spears’

Kim Kardashian feels a lot of “empathy” for Britney Spears after watching “Framing Britney Spears,” which she says reminded her of being pregnant with her daughter North West.

“The way the media played a huge role in her life … can be very traumatizing and it can really break even the strongest person,” Kardashian, 40, wrote via Instagram Stories Friday. “As public as a person’s life may seem, no one deserves to be treated with so much cruelty or judgment for entertainment.”

“When I was pregnant with North I suffered from pre-eclampsia, which made me bloat uncontrollably,” she continued. “I gained 60 pounds and gave birth almost 6 weeks early and I cried every day about what was happening to my body, mainly due to the pressure of constantly being compared to what society should look like as a healthy pregnant person – and also to be compared to Shamu the Whale by the media. “

Framing Britney Spears highlighted how Spears, now 39, has been unfairly scrutinized in the media from an early age in comparison to her male counterparts. Kardashian added on Friday that looking back on her own experiences in public, she could recall a time when I felt that way.

The New York Times / Hulu documentary also showed some of the backlash her father, Jamie Spears, has received from the singer’s ongoing struggles at the conservatory. Since its release in February, many celebrities have spoken out for the # FreeBritney movement against her conservatorship, and others, such as Spears’ ex Justin Timberlake, have publicly apologized for their previous comments about the pop star.

In 2013, Kardashian said in response to tabloids scrutinizing her pregnancy weight, “There are maybe two or three covers this week that say I’m 200 pounds. “I’m like, ‘You’re off 60 pounds here’ … It wouldn’t even bother me if I put on all the weight.”

The CEO of KKW Beauty now says she has “fortunately” turned those hardships into “motivation,” but added, “it would be a lie to think that this didn’t take a toll on me mentally.”

“I’m just sharing this to say that I really hope that anyone involved in shaming and bullying someone to the point of breaking them would rethink and instead try to have some understanding and compassion. show, ”she concluded. “You just never quite know what someone is going through behind the scenes and I’ve learned from my own experiences that it’s always better to lead with kindness.”
