Kickstarter hit Eiyuden Chronicle is published by 505 Games, promises ‘even higher quality’

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Suikoden’s spiritual successor, will be published by 505 Games, with developers pledging “even higher quality” as a result of the collaboration. The publisher revealed its partnership with Rabbit & Bear Studios in a YouTube video published earlier this week. Studio Lead Yoshitaka Murayama thanked fans for their support and added, “With this partnership, I believe we can deliver Eiyuden Chronicle to our fans, following the original concept with even higher quality standards.” Murayama also said that Eiyuden Chronicle was the “first of hopefully many games” that the team aims to bring to fans around the world.

Eiyuden Chronicle benefited from an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign in 2020 where it exceeded its goal in one day to become the third most successful Kickstarter video game, with revenues exceeding $ 4.5 million. As for what players can expect from the game, a press release says it will feature “a traditional 6-character combat system that uses carefully crafted 2D sprites and beautiful 3D backgrounds with a deep and intricate story written by master storyteller Murayama. ” Eiyuden Chronicle is a JRPG with a 2.5D visual style, with more than 100 heroes to recruit, as stated in the game title.

Rabbit & Bear has said it chose 505 as its publisher for its work on the PC releases of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (another hugely successful spiritual successor to Kickstarter) and Death Stranding. The Rabbit & Bear team is full of experienced Japanese developers with credits for game series such as Suikoden, Wild Arms, Tales of and Castlevania.

Eiyuden was originally slated for PC, but after achieving big goals in the Kickstarter campaign, consoles were “unlocked” and the game is thought to land on PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch (or any Switch successor) when this one is ready. As for a possible release window, fans will have to wait. Murayama noted that Rabbit & Bear will be publishing more information through the game’s official social channels.
