Days after reportedly throwing a tantrum over moving his locker, Kevin Porter Jr. reportedly seeing his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers come to an end. Cleveland trades Porter to the Houston Rockets in exchange for a future protected second-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Porter, a first-round pick in the 2019 draft, reportedly had a flare-up on Friday after discovering his old locker had been assigned to Taurean Prince. Porter’s new locker was located in an area reserved for younger players and players at the end of the bench, said Jason Lloyd, Joe Vardon, Kelsey Russo and Shams Charania of The athletic.
Porter reportedly threw food in the locker when he became upset, forcing Koby Altman, general manager of Cavaliers, to step in. The team has been trying to trade Porter since the incident and was determined to release him if no deal could be reached.
The trade comes two months after Porter was involved in a car accident in which he was arrested and charged with improper use of a firearm in a motor vehicle, failing to monitor the vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
Porter has not played this season due to personal problems. He averaged 10.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 50 games last season.
