Kevin Greene, Steelers and NFL Hall of Fame legend, has passed away

The NFL regrets this Monday the death from one of the members of the American Football Hall of Fame, Kevin Greene, which suddenly and without any previous known illness, died at the age of 58, with the Pittsburgh Steelers the first to break the news.

“We lost a great player and person to the this morning death of Kevin Greene. His sudden death comes as a shock to all of us, who were such close friends and companions within the Steelers family, ”reads part of the official franchise statement.

Who was Kevin Greene?

Born in New York in 1962, Kevin Greene was one of the best defenders in NFL history when it comes to quarterbacks sacks, as it is third on the all-time list with 160 pockets.

His career began with the Los Angeles Rams in 1985 and he was also a part of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers during his 15 years as a professional in which he could never win the super bowlalthough he played with the Steelers against the Cowboys in the XXX edition.

His major accomplishments also include 10 seasons of at least 10 sacks, five Pro Bowl selections, a two-time All-Pro team, and named after the 1990’s team of the decade, which led him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, in 2016.
