The stunning revelation that Quicksilver was essentially recast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe WandaVision shocked fans, with X-Men film actor Evan Peters replacing Aaron Taylor-Johnson at a time when fans were wondering what it meant for the multiverse. But what we have just been teased about WandaVision Episode 5, “On a Very Special Episode …” only raised questions about the arrival of Quicksilver, and it might not open the door to a crossover as the X-Men franchise moves forward. We now know that this version of Pietro isn’t the real deal – especially after Agatha Harkness became clear about her manipulation of Wanda Maximoff. But what does it mean for Marvel moving forward?
Speaking at Disney + ‘s TCA presentation on Wednesday, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said the decision to bring in Peters instead of Taylor-Johnson was made quite early in the development process and went on to explain that it all has to do with how “certain people” mess with Wanda.
“That’s one of the nice things about developing these things or making it blue in the rooms,” said Feige. The Wrap“My favorite part of the process is always the very beginning when we figure out what something could be and all the way at the very end when we refine it and spread it in the world. have continued with what you saw relatively early in the development process. It’s just another way that certain people were messing with Wanda. “
And last week’s “Breaking the Fourth Wall”, the seventh episode of the series, revealed that someone was indeed messing with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) using “Pietro” for that. In the episode, Agnes revealed she was Agatha and a montage showed viewers what “Agatha had been like all along,” complete with a catchy theme song – a theme song that has spawned many creative fan-covers and remixes. Of course, there are still plenty of theories to suggest that Agatha may not be WandaVision’s ultimate big bad. There are plenty of theories to suggest that Mephisto or Nightmare may still be behind it and even some theories that Quicksilver might be Chthon. Fans will just have to wait for the last two episodes to find out.
