Kenosha shooting killed 3 and wounded 2 at Somers House; suspect not in custody, Wisconsin officials say

KENOSHA, Delete. (WLS) – Three men were killed early Sunday morning in a shooting at Kenosha County bar in Wisconsin.

The shooting took place at around 12:42 PM at the Somers House, a bar in the village of Somers, officials said.

At least two other persons were transported to hospitals in the region with serious injuries.

“There is a possibility that one or two, or perhaps even more, may have sustained minor injuries or other injuries,” said Sheriff David Beth, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

Two of the victims died on the spot. The third victim fled in a car with other people, but later died on the way to a hospital.

The sheriff said the person in charge may have been told to leave the bar, then come back to go on the shooting.

‘Before you know it, I’ll hear a lot of shots going off. [I] got up, ran outside and looked out the window. Just see people running from the bar in all directions, ”said Peter Ploskee, a resident at the bar.

The shooter, described as a six-foot man wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, is still at large, according to Kenosha officials.

“I didn’t see anyone. Like I said when I looked out the window it was just chaos. People are running all over the place, so you know, who’s who? Is that the man? Is this the man? People are just running. “screaming people,” said Ploskee.

Kenosha officials believe the incident was targeted and isolated, saying they do not currently believe there is a threat to the community.

“The suspect is still at large. Suspect or suspects, we really don’t know at the moment,” said Sheriff David Beth.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has issued a statement about the shooting.

“My heart breaks for Kenosha this morning after a shooting that took three lives and injured at least two others. I want to thank the emergency responders who responded quickly and are still investigating and finding those involved in this senseless tragedy,” Gov. Evers said. Kathy and I join the Wisconsinites in the hope and pray that the injured will recover from their injuries. We remember the affected families and loved ones and the entire Kenosha community as they mourn and grapple with yet another tragic incident of gun violence. . “

Officials said they may be looking for multiple people and multiple weapons. No weapons were found on the spot, but it did mention that, according to the sheriff, a handgun or small arms could have been used.

The bar is known as a meeting place for the Carthage College community. According to the university website, the campus was closed for a while on Sunday morning, but the college received a message from the police at 6:20 AM that the block could be lifted.

Sheridan Road is closed near the site and officials said the area should be avoided so the Kenosha Sheriff’s Department can continue the ongoing investigation.
