Kelly Clarkson plans her perfect first Valentine’s Day date with herself since divorce: ‘We don’t need anyone by our side to live our best life’
She is currently engaged in a divorce from her estranged husband and father of her two children.
But Kelly Clarkson chose to focus on the positive on Friday, when she hosted a Valentine’s Day themed episode of her talk show focused on celebrating single women.
The 38-year-old Miss Independent singer welcomed comedian Kym Whitley into the studio, along with Roseanne star Sarah Chalke via video.

During the episode, the topic of the perfect date with yourself for Valentine’s Day came up, and each star shared their ideas with a number of spectators.
“We all know we don’t need anyone by our side to live our best life,” Clarkson said.
“For dating myself, I’m a mom of little toddlers, so I literally love to have a glass of wine and turn on the fireplace in my bedroom,” she also shared.

Then she added, ‘… and I read a book or watch Netflix. Or I literally just hang out with my girls. I love that.’
Chalke, meanwhile, thought about how much she loves hanging out with her friends, something she misses during the pandemic.
And Whitley hammered it out, describing how her ideal date night with herself involved sending her son away so she could get out her “toys” and snuggle under a plaid in front of the TV.
Later in the show, Kelly was asked by an audience member, “What was something you pretended to be cool with and not cool with in a relationship?”
“Oh…,” said the American Idol champion, before hesitating and looking at her guests to go first.
But she later shared, “I dated this guy, and I think because I’m a singer-songwriter, when you date people, they feel like,” Oh, I’m going to write her a song. “
“And … don’t,” Clarkson concluded eloquently.

Kelly is in the middle of divorce proceedings with her estranged husband Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shares daughter River Rose, six, and son Remington Alexander, four.
She filed for divorce with the talent manager on June 4 last year.
On a previous episode of the Kelly Clarkson Show, the Grammy winner admitted that co-parenting with Blackstock was “ difficult. ”
