LOS ANGELES – LA Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard was ruled out for a left lower leg bruise before Sunday night’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Clippers started the first game of a home back-to-back without their two stars. Leonard joined Paul George (swollen right toe) on the sidelines. George missed his fifth game in a row because of the injury.
Coach Ty Lue said Leonard sustained his injury at one point during the Clippers’ road trip to Minnesota and Chicago. Leonard scored 36 points in a win over the Wolves and 33 points in a win over the Bulls.
“I’m not sure when it happened,” Lue said before facing Cleveland. “Or when he comes back.”
Leonard had missed four previous games this season due to a crack in the mouth and when he had to put in place health and safety protocols due to contact tracking.
