Kate Hudson thought about her extended family early in the new year.
On Friday’s episode of her ‘Sibling Revelry’ podcast with older brother Oliver Hudson, 44, the 41-year-old actress spoke about estranged father Bill Hudson and how ‘it would be nice to get in touch with a little their half brothers and sisters.
‘Do you know what I’ve been thinking about lately? Daddy, ”Kate said.
‘I was thinking – I thought about Dad a lot. I’ve been thinking about our sisters, who we don’t spend time with, and our brother. Brothers. We have four brothers and sisters we don’t spend time with, ”she continued.
Bill, 71, was married to Kate and Oliver’s mother Goldie Hawn from 1976-1982. He later married actress Cindy Williams, with whom he has two children, daughter Emily and son Zachary. He also has a daughter, Lalania, from another relationship.
Hawn, 75, and Kurt Russell, 69, have been together since 1983 and share a son, Wyatt Russell, 34. Kurt also has a son, Boston, 40, with ex-season Hubley.
“I thought about how everyone gets older,” Kate said Friday. “I just had this moment of it, it would be nice to connect a bit, especially with my sisters.
“We’ve talked so often about sibling relationships and desperate relationships,” she continued. ‘And we’re so sick of this, we have the best family, we are so wonderful. And yet we never acknowledge the fact that we have four other siblings – four. So I’ve been thinking a lot about the Hudsons. I think it’s important that we get in touch with all of our brothers and sisters and maybe get in touch with them a little bit. “
In 2015 Oliver Bill hit in the Father’s Day Instagram post, writing: “Happy leaving day … @KateHudson.” Bill later told the Daily Mail that he was severing ties with Oliver and Kate.
Oliver said he and his father reconnected after the infamous post, revealing on “Larry King Now” in 2018 that the two “had some lyrics back and forth.”
In a 2016 interview on the Howard Stern Show, Kate said of Bill and the past, “ I really acknowledge whatever those issues are, it’s just something he has to live with, and that must be painful for him, so I forgive him. “
