Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Mr Doug Emhoff will temporarily reside at Blair House while repairs are being made to the official Vice Presidential mansion at the Naval Observatory, a report said.
The move, at the request of the Navy, will include replacement of chimney liners and other maintenance on Number One Observatory Circle, a Harris assistant told CBS News.
The repairs will be easier to make when the house is unoccupied, the assistant told the outlet.
It was not immediately clear how long Harris and Emhoff would have to stay at Blair House, which is across the street from the White House and is usually used to receive the President’s guests.
Once Harris and Emhoff officially move into the Queen Anne-style house on the grounds of the observatory, it will be the eighth time a vice president has lived there.
The house, which was built in 1893, sits on 12 acres of the 72-acre site of the still-operational US Naval Observatory.
