Kamala Harris finally moves into the official residence of the VP

After months of waiting for renovations, Vice President Kamala Harris moves into her official star-studded home.

The Democrat and husband Doug Emhoff moved to Number One Observatory Circle on Tuesday night, CNN reported.

Harris, 56, is now the eighth vice president to reside in the 914-square-foot mansion on the grounds of the observatory.

The six-bedroom Queen Anne-style house sits on 12 acres of the 72-acre site of the still-operational U.S. Naval Observatory, where scientists observe the sun, moon, planets and stars, according to the official White House website. . It was first mentioned as the vice president’s official residence in 1974.

With her housing paid for by the government for the next four years, Harris is now selling her high-rise Washington home for $ 1,995 million.

Harris and Emhoff have lived in the Blair House, opposite the White House, since inauguration day.

The 1824 guest house is traditionally used to house visiting heads of state.

Repairs to the observatory reportedly include maintenance of the HVAC system, replacement of the liners in the chimneys, and refurbishment of some hardwood floors.
