K-3, Special Education, and 12th graders begin face-to-face classes in March

The opening, as previously announced, would take place on March 3.

These students are “projected” to be divided into groups A and B, and will attend in person only two days a week, the rest remaining virtual.

According to Aponte Santos, the school day is expected to last until noon and there will be about 8 to 12 students per classroom, “depending on the size of the group”.

Lunches will take place in “grab and go” mode, ie the dining areas are not open at the recommendation of the health department.

“Schools will receive digital thermometers, cleaning materials and extra masks, although students and staff will have to bring and take theirs,” added the secretary.

The schools will have male and female nurses who will ensure that the protocols are followed and link with the case tracking system.

Parents and guardians are not allowed to enter the schools and if they have any concerns they should make an appointment to be seen.

Aponte Santos did not confirm which schools specifically would be open, but assured that he would announce it soon.

On the other hand, he explained that more than 24,000 educational center employees received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“The collaboration and integration of everyone is essential for us to be successful in this. I invite you to be part of the solutions,” he concluded.
