Juvenile suffers severe stab wounds in disagreements in downtown Santa Barbara | Local news

A teenage boy was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries on Wednesday night after he was stabbed in an allegedly gang-related fight in downtown Santa Barbara, police said.

A group of four youths were walking near Anapamu and Bath streets as a second group of youths and young adults approached, and a fight began, said Anthony Wagner, a spokesman for the Santa Barbara police.

A teenager was stabbed and the rest of the people left the area, Wagner said.

The stabbing victim walked to De la Vinastraat and collapsed, and police and AMR paramedics responded to the scene around 5:45 PM, Wagner said.

The victim was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and his medical condition was unknown Thursday, Wagner said.

No arrests had been made on Thursday afternoon and the investigation continued.

Police ask anyone with information about the stabbing to contact the department at 805.897.2465.
