Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic broke his right wrist on Thursday night in a 111-87 loss to the visiting Indiana Pacers.
Nurkic could be seen holding the wrist after swiping for the ball in the third quarter, and he fell to the ground after contact under the Indiana basket. At one point he went to the locker room and never returned.
The Trail Blazers did not immediately indicate how much time Nurkic will miss.
The 2 meter high Bosnian center averaged 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds on the way to the game.
Nurkic missed much of the first half of last season after breaking his left leg in a game in March 2019. He returned to the team to play in the bubble in Orlando, Florida after the season was suspended due to the coronavirus.
“He had come a long way back from his other injury,” said coach Terry Stotts. “He had a difficult start to the season, it looked like he was getting back on track. Obviously, this is a major setback for him and for us.”
Stotts said Nurkic was in a splint after the game.
The Blazers had been indefinitely without attacker / center Zach Collins after an ankle surgery in late December.
