James revealed she was investigation into various Trump properties in August, when she asked the court to force the Trump organization to provide documents related to various transactions.
The court ruled in her favor in September, but there were still questions about whether she could withhold documents relating to an engineer associated with the Seven Springs Resort in Westchester County.
The Trump organization argued that the documents were protected by the privilege of attorney and client. Now, with Tuesday’s ruling, the organization must hand over those documents.
Amy Carlin, a Trump Organization attorney, argued that it “had every expectation that such communications would be confidential,” CNN reported.
However, Eric Haren, who represented the attorney general’s office, said the organization “relinquished privileges” when it disclosed certain documents to the IRS in order to “take advantage,” the news outlet said.
Judge Arthur Engoron of the New York County Supreme Court ruled that the Trump organization must hand over the communication before Friday.
“Again, justice and the rule of law were victorious,” James said in a statement. “We will take immediate steps to ensure that the Trump Organization complies with the court order and files reports related to our investigation. My office’s ongoing investigation will continue as we continue to monitor the facts wherever they lead. “
