A lawsuit was submitted in 2019 by Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, after The Mail on Sunday received a letter from Markle to her father Thomas Markle and posted five articles about it on The Mail on Sunday and The MailOnline website.
Markle said publishing those articles infringed her copyright and privacy.
Supreme Court Judge Lord Justice Warby agreed with the royal couple’s claim that the publication infringed Markle’s rights, and now Associated Newspapers must announce the loss on the front page of The Mail on Sunday and issue a statement for a week have about this on The MailOnline with a hyperlink showing the full judgment of the court, The Guardian reported
Markle had wanted the online statement to be valid for six months, but the judge turned down that request.
The Associated Newspaper may file to appeal directly against the decision to the appeals court, The Guardian reported, although Warby does not believe the outcome will be any different.
The judge says so “do not think there is a realistic prospect that the appellate court would come to a different conclusion regarding the outcome of the claim for misuse of private information, or regarding the issues I resolved in the copyright claim. “
