The Meyer Shank Racing Acura DPi # 60, with Bogota driver Juan Pablo Montoya in the last corner, finished fourth in the traditional endurance test. Gabby Chaves withdrew due to damage to her car’s oil pump, in the LMP3 category.
Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya and his teammates Meyer Shank Racing, Dane Cameron, Olivier Pla and AJ Allmendinger, aboard the # 60 Acura DPi, finished fourth in the Daytona 24 Hours, won by another Acura, the # 10 of Wayne Taylor Racing, featuring drivers Helio Castroneves, Felipe Albuquerque, Ricky Taylor and Alexander Rossi.
The Bogota team started fourth and finished in the same position in the top category of the Daytona International Prototipe, the most prestigious in the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

“It was a complicated 24 hours. The truth is when we trained on Thursday we were very fast and we were very happy with the car and I don’t know what they changed. They don’t say anything, but the car goes from fast to slow, from fast to slow and unfortunately before the race it was very difficult to drive. When I was in the car we could get close, we were seconds and in the fight, there we came, about 10 seconds from the top, we stayed but there was no way to get there so we decided to loosen up a bit to be take care of the car, there was nothing else to do. We finished fourth and that’s what we have, we’ll see what the rest of the year has in store, ”explains Montoya, Daytona champion in 2007, 2008 and 2013.
Gabby Chaves, in Forty Motrosport’s # 7 vehicle, did not complete the test due to a damage to her vehicle’s oil pump, in the LMP3 category. “Unfortunately our car pulled out of the race with a faulty engine oil cooling pump. It pains me not to finish, but I really enjoyed the chance to get back on track, ”he assured.
