Actor Joseph Siravo, who rose to fame for his role as Johnny Soprano in the HBO series “The Sopranos,” died Sunday at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer.

Siravo was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2017, followed by colon cancer.
Although his face became known to the general public of “The Sopranos”, Siravo also had an important role in the series “The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” where he played Fred Goldman.
Born in Washington, the actor studied drama in New York and broke through with Al Pacino in the famous 1993 film “Carlito’s Way”, whose cast also starred Argentinian comedian Jorge Porcel.
In the following years Siravo was called up for some appearances on “Law and Order” until in 1999 he was selected for the devotional role of Johnny Soprano. He also appeared in television series such as “The Blacklist”, “Blue Bloods” or “New Amsterdam”.
However, one of his great passions was theater and much of his career developed on stage. In the musical “Jersey Boys” he played Angelo DeCarlo more than 2000 times and appeared in recognized Broadway plays such as “Conversations with my father”, “Oslo” or “The boys from Syracuse”.
