José Berríos launches a jewel during his first appearance of the season

Milwaukee Puerto Rican righthanded José Berríos was clear in his first appearance of the season with the Minnesota Twins after throwing six no-hitters against the Milwaukee Brewers, who also had a no-hitter until the Corbin Burnes jewel finished seventh with a solo Home run.

Minnesota won the game 2-0 at Miller Park after extending the no-hitter into the eighth inning with the bullpen, which only gave indisputable admission to support the Puerto Rican’s great work.

It marked the first time that pitchers faced each other in six hitless innings since Jake Peavy of the San Francisco Giants and Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets did on August 2, 2014. Both had hits in the seventh episode.

Berríos, a 26-year old from Bayamon in his sixth season with the Twins, finished with 12 strikeouts, one pitch and no walks in 84 pitches. He hit Kolten Wong to finish sixth, and his 12 fans tied a career-high against Texas on June 24, 2018.

Burnes gave up an one-out homer to Byron Buxton in the seventh on his 87th delivery, then was caught 1-0 just after. The right-handed went out 11.

The last no-hitter from Minnesota was pitched by Francisco Liriano on May 3, 2011 in the Chicago White Sox. The franchise has never thrown a combined no-hitter.

The teams that got closest to the start were in the third inning when Milwaukee’s Orlando Arcia hit a long hit that caught Buxton on the wall of midfield.

This is Burnes’ fifth career game with at least 10 strikeouts. It is the 10th game with double-digit strikeouts for Berríos.

Burnes went 4-1 last season with a 2.11 ERA, finishing sixth in the National League Cy Young Award. Berríos was 5-4 with a 4.00 ERA.
