News of the upcoming movie comes just a month after Irish-born actor Rhys Meyers was charged with a DUI in Malibu on Nov. 8, following a minor crash.

The Match Point star was the only one in the car and failed a field sobriety test, resulting in him being arrested and briefly jailed before being released.

Not his first meeting with the law, he was detained at LAX in 2018 after a verbal dispute with his wife Mara Lane over an e-cigarette, even though both she and agents claimed no crime had been committed.

A history of alcohol abuse, he most recently relapsed in 2017 after his wife’s miscarriage, though she called him ‘the strongest person I know,’ adding: ‘He has been able to turn every ugliness and pain in his life into art. ‘

Malkovich also went through tough times, being ripped off of his nearly $ 50 million savings in the 2008 Bernie Madoff ponzi plan, which hit a handful of Hollywood heavyweights, including Kevin Bacon, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Larry King.

After winding up the scammer’s firm eventually getting back $ 670,000, the New Pope actor told Vanity Fair in 2013, “ Honestly, it was a good life lesson, ” saying it made him work harder while keeping his perspective.

‘I had to do more work that paid for a number of years, and keep working all the time. I think it has reconnected me to how most people live all the time. And, unlike many people involved with Madoff, I could just go back to work, and that was fine, ”he said coolly.

The couple’s latest venture, The Survivalist, hasn’t been given a release date, but is in post-production.
