Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández confirmed on Tuesday that much has been achieved in the field of security thanks to the National Police in his mandate.

At the inauguration of the facilities of the new National Directorate for Prevention and Community Safety in Tegucigalpa, Hernández assured that while it is “questioned” the institution’s fight against organized crime, it will not stop.

“Today is the work of the @Politie_Rdam organized crime in Honduras and it is being done in a US office, ”he wrote in his report twitter the president, referring to the New York prosecutor’s allegations, where he is linked to alleged drug traffickers and possible actions by former police officers.

JOH added that he reaffirms “the many results achieved, I am going to stick out my heart and defend this institution.”

The facilities were delivered in the San Miguel district from the Honduran capital where He highlighted the changes in security issues thanks to the state security forces.

“It’s impressive to see the transformation of the police force, but especially its results in the fight against insecurity; today we are here in the San Miguel neighborhood, handing them a modern building,” the president said in another tweet.

“Today, the police have grown not only in capacities but also in the treatment of civilians; we have managed to reduce homicides by 60% and we continue to fight to provide the best for Honduras; feel proud of the police , on its completeness and achievement, ”he said in his speech at the inauguration.

The new buildings are intended to expand the security of the sector, which is a very important access road in the country, so the flow of people requires greater coverage by the police institution, police said.

The United States law office for the Southern District of New York on Tuesday opened a trial against alleged Honduran drug trafficker Geovanny Fuentes Ramírez, who it assured had worked with Hernández for years, describing Honduras as a “narco-state.”

Hernández has at all times denied any involvement, something he reiterated via Twitter on Monday in a series of messages in which he also sent a warning to Washington.

The Honduran president said he will maintain the “international alliance in the fight against drug trafficking” until the end of his tenure, but warned that as drug traffickers, “with the magic key of lies, they take advantage of the United States through false testimonials, the alliance international would collapse with Honduras. “

Hernández has been a close ally of the United States since 2014, first with President Barack Obama (2019-2017) and later from 2017 to January of this year with Donald Trump.
