The government had the former Republican president justified the ban as a necessary measure to “protect” American workers, it claims the arrival of foreigners posed a “threat” to the US labor market faced with the health economic crisis due to the coronavirus pandemicCOVID-19

“By halting immigration, we are helping to put unemployed Americans first for jobs as the United States reopens. So important “ Trump said in April 2020 when the measure was implemented.

In recent weeks business groups, including the technology industry, and immigrant lawyers, had their concern that the Biden government did not comment on plans to lift this ban.

And it is that Trump’s determination froze H-1B visas to work in high-tech industries and a number of others for low-skilled workers, interns, teachers and for business transfers.

Still, the president’s recall was the latest example of his attempts to reverse Trump’s attack on the country’s immigration system. Since taking office, Biden has published several executive orders and guidelines aimed at lifting restrictions for immigrants in the past four years.

Biden also suggested a further overhaul of the country’s immigration laws, fulfilling a campaign promise he made to send legislation to Congress on the first day of his presidency.

In his legislation, the president would indicate a path eight years towards citizenship for the majority of 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. The legislation has been proposed in the House and Senate by Biden’s Democratic allies, however it is unclear whether he can get enough Republican support to be approved in the Senate.
