Washington President-elect Joe Biden declared on Thursday that the angry mob storming the Capitol in Washington are “domestic terrorists” and blamed outgoing President Donald Trump for the events.
Biden said in Wilmington, Delaware, that the hundreds of Trump supporters who have invaded the Capitol are not protesters. It wasn’t disorder. It was not a protest. Don’t you dare call them protesters. They were a rampant crowd, insurgents, domestic terrorists, ”Biden said in a Wilmington, Delaware, intervention.
Biden said Trump is guilty of “attempts to use a crowd to silence the votes of nearly 160 million Americans” who voted in November.
He noted that the president “has made clear his disdain for our democracy, our constitution and the rule of law in everything he has done and launched a” frontal attack “on the country’s democratic institutions, leading to the violence on Wednesday. .
The president-elect also criticized the police action by ensuring that with the same stick “a manifest failure to apply justice” had been committed.
“No one can tell me that if it had been a group of the Black Lives Matter movement that protested yesterday, they wouldn’t have been treated very, very differently from the mob of criminals that stormed the Capitol,” he warned.
The unprecedented attack on Congress by thousands of Trump supporters, including far-right and white supremacists, after participating in an event with the president, led to the expulsion of lawmakers and numerous damage to the US legislature’s headquarters.
At the moment, the police authorities have announced the arrest of 68 people.
Trump avoided condemning what had happened and confined himself to urging his followers to “go home” after describing the day as unbelievable, causing a wave of outrage in the US and among his international allies.
Biden will take office as president on January 20.
