JJ Watt has said that “free agency is wild.” He does his best to make it even wilder.
A seven-word tweet Watt posted Tuesday morning has sparked rampant speculation about the message he’s not sending about his future.
Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell, ‘Said Watt.
Some suggest that means Watt will join the bills. For example, “Mitochondria” has the same number of letters as ‘Buffalo Bills’. (That seems like a chore.) Then there’s the fact that the Mitochondria Research Society is headquartered in Buffalo. (That seems less of a stretch.)
Fans of other teams participate. Mitochondria, for example, has a “C.Erin, meaning Watt is on his way to Cleveland.
Regardless, the situation has sparked enough discussion that “mitochondria” are trending.
Whatever the significance, even if it has no meaning at all, it’s nice to wonder where Watt is headed now – and whether a team will make a firm offer before the 2021 salary cap is officially set.
Until then, Watt should be tweeting more fun facts. Such as “the human head weighs eight pounds.”
