It’s no mystery that Steelers fans have dreamed of adding former three-time defensive player of the year, JJ Watt, to the roster. The pipe dream started to take hold when Derek Watt teamed up with TJ Watt here in the Steel City. This feeling started to get stronger when former Texans Head Coach and General Manager, Bill O’Brien started running the team into the ground. With franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson demanding a trade from Houston, coupled with the fact that the Texans are on the brink of some terrible years ahead, the belief is that JJ Watt will have the chance to career elsewhere.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo announced the news of JJ’s impending departure. Garafolo went so far as to say that Texan players who were already new, the oldest Watt brother had played his last game as a Texan. Surprisingly to no one, Steelers fans, and even players, took to social media to show their excitement over Watt’s availability, adding to JJ’s apparent interest in playing with his brothers, you could call the response a complete frenzy.
Almost immediately after the news broke, Steelers outside linebacker TJ Watt took to Twitter to remind people how dominant his big brother has been.
A tweet in which Steelers tackles, Zach Banner responded with a gif how he feels about the situation:
Here are some of the nicer tweets from Steelers Nation:
